After last season’s acrobatic launch of A Suit to Travel In, Paul Smith pushes the story forward with a summer suit using unlined and breathable cloth.

Balancing Act

We didn’t think he could top January’s debut where English Olympians performed handstands, backflips, and forward rolls to highlight the breathable, crease resistant credentials of his new travel suits. But then Paul Smith didn’t get to be Britain’s pre-eminent tailor without giving himself a challenge.

Passionate about cycling, Smith enlisted world champion freestyle stunt cyclist Ben Savage to put his SS16 suit through its paces during London Collections Men. And it’s comforting to know that next time you’re balancing your BMX precariously on a sculptural art piece, your highly practical suit will provide ease of movement – in a series of vibrant hues.

With performance and comfort in mind, Smith’s suits are manufactured in Italy using wool fabric created by revered cloth-maker Loro Piana. A high-twist yarn is woven loosely in season-appropriate jackets and trousers that are up to the task, be it a short bike ride or long-haul flight.

While the SS16 Paul Smith A Suit To Travel In won’t be riding into stores until March 2016, the AW15 styles, introduced at last season’s London Collections Men currently features in the Paul Smith collection, are available worldwide.
