British fashion designer Christopher Raeburn continues to create luxury apparel with integrity. Returning to London Fashion Week to present a womenswear collection in collaboration with The Woolmark Company, Raeburn’s ‘Re-MADE’ ethos still guides and influences every aspect of his AW15 collection.

Christopher Raeburn’s AW15 womenswear collection IMMERSE is a bold exploration of the colours, textures and shapes associated with a life spent at sea. Perhaps the most diverse collection to date, IMMERSE shows once again Raeburn’s ability to combine creativity and flare with wearability and attention to detail.

Raeburn’s ongoing partnership with The Woolmark Company has allowed for the sourcing and development of unique fabrics and yarns, which have then been applied to new garment categories.

Presenting 12 wool and wool-rich pieces, IMMERSE comprises two Merino wool sweaters, two sweater dresses, a Merino wool cape, puffer jacket, pea coat and duffel coat all in 100 per cent Merino wool along with a Merino Wool Denim hybrid dress, Merino Wool Denim Hybrid bomber jacket and two Merino Hybrid Hoodies – which have quickly become a Christopher Raeburn staple.

"I'm really pleased and proud to be partnering with The Woolmark Company again this season,” explains Raeburn.

“Over the past two years they have introduced me to the amazing array of finishes and textures that can be achieved using Merino wool, as well as the many performance characteristics that make it so appropriate for my brand."

Luxury Merino knitwear in particular is fast becoming a key aspect of Raeburn’s collections and this season’s highly topical mascot, the shark, features on a blush pink intarsia sweater and a blue sweater dress, both of which are offered in alternative colour ways.

A cape, puffer jacket and pea coat are constructed in a muted blue bonded wool that conjures epic seas and imposing skies. In contrast, wonderfully textured Italian woven wool offers hints of the entire seasonal colour palette and the highly crafted nature of the fabric is cleverly offset by its use in more modern technical outerwear styles such as the oversized parka. The same fabric features in the hybrid hoodie contrasted with black Merino wool.

A unique Japanese Wool Denim is used to create garments that embody the casual elegance for which Raeburn is becoming known; a neatly fitted dress contrasts the denim with a tactile textured fleece and this eye-catching fabric combination can also be seen in a signature Raeburn bomber jacket.

The IMMERSE collection is a fitting tribute to Raeburn’s AW15 menswear collection RAFT, which was an exploration of the lives of 25 men adrift at sea. Presented at London Collections: Men, Raeburn’s menswear collection launched the season’s shark mascot, and also introduced Wool Denim to the Christopher Raeburn man.
