For Autumn/Winter 2015/16 Christopher Raeburn draws inspiration from survival, endurance and immersion, with the aptly named collection, ‘Raft’.

The collection emerged through an exploration of the lives of 25 men adrift at sea, endeavouring to survive the cruel hardships and formidable conditions aboard a life raft.

Exposed to the elements and forced to be resourceful these men embody Raeburn’s continued interest in clothing that is both functional and eye-catching.

RAFT

Christopher Raeburn returns to London Collections: Men with a collection encapsulated by the concept of REMADE - completely deconstructing then reworking an original garment or seasonal concept. An original life raft has been re-appropriated to create a standout limited edition collection of bright and graphic outerwear and accessories.

The REMADE panelled parka and bomber jacket create a playful explosion of yellows and oranges making use of the upper section of the raft, designed to attract attention at sea. In contrast, an all-black rubber military jacket is crafted from the underside of the raft and features original graphics, which are replicated as a motif across the seasonal collection.

Continuing the partnership with The Woolmark Company, luxury Merino wool fabrics feature extensively across the collection. Raeburn has continued his development of 100 per cent certified Merino knitwear, with extrafine yarn sourced from Woolmark licensee Olimpias S.P.A. The Merino wool knitwear comes in two different weights and designs, one featuring the seasonal mascot, the shark, and another featuring graphics taken from the life rafts used in the REMADE section of the collection. The knitwear category includes two jumpers and a scarf in two colour ways.

The Hybrid hoodie, fast becoming a Raeburn classic, is re-imagined using a heavy textured fleece creating a dynamic contrast with the lightweight Merino wool jersey. As in previous seasons, Raeburn has sourced the lightweight jersey from Woolmark licensee Charles Parsons, with the British designer saying this has been his best-selling piece in the collection for the past two seasons.

The inflatable puffer jacket is replicated in heavy Merino wool from British Mill AW Hainsworth in Yorkshire, which also features in a pea coat, representing a venture into smarter more tailored outerwear styles for AW15/16.

A uniquely beautiful Japanese Wool Denim elevates this season’s leg wear styles featuring in distinctive combat pants and smart trousers. Sourced from Amhot International, 100 per cent Wool Denim will feature in the puffer jacket, a military jacket and an oversized shirt as well as three styles of trousers.
