The inspiration for the Autumn/Winter 2014/15 collection of Gieves & Hawkes began with the company's archives - which makes perfect sense, given that the company has prided itself on uncompromising standards of both material and manufacture for literally centuries.

The firm of Gieves & Hawkes of No.1 Savile Row, London, has been dressing the more discerning gentleman for over 300 years. During that time they have never been less than passionate about their craft. This continues in their Autumn/Winter 2014/15 collection.

"This season our inspiration started with the Gieves & Hawkes archive and the relationship the house has between civilian and military dressing," commented Jason Basmajian, Creative Director at Gieves & Hawkes.

"Outerwear and great coats form the foundation of this season's rich and textural aesthetic. Layered over elegant tailoring or rich sportswear the coat is the key piece this season. Masculine tones of khaki, olive, navy, brown, and grey are interpreted in textural fabrics refined for urban sophistication. Shearling and leather details add a sportier mood."

The company refuses to work with anything other than the finest natural fibres, the richest, most luxurious cloths and fabrics. These are just some of the reasons why Gieves & Hawkes has become an international by-word for sartorial excellence.

Gieves & Hawkes is one of the first luxury goods brands to have a partnership with Woolmark Gold. Launched in China in 2011 by The Woolmark Company, Woolmark Gold, aimed at the domestic luxury market of China, sets a global benchmark for fine tailoring, a standard shared by Gieves & Hawkes.

Just 10 years after they opened their first store in China, Gieves & Hawkes now has more than 100 premises, and plan to open more in the coming years to cater to China's ever-expanding - and increasingly discerning - luxury goods market and passion for British craftsmanship and heritage.
