Modern innovation in fabric manufacturing has allowed Merino wool's versatility to be explored by the acclaimed British menswear designer in her Autumn/Winter 2014/15 collection.
The Merino wool garments in Dalton's collection will see you through the daytime into the evening, with investment pieces that can be dressed up or dressed down.
Dalton acknowledges the inspiration provided to her by The Woolmark Company's The Wool Lab - a seasonal guide to the world's most inspiring wool trends and best products.
"The Wool Lab is amazing … it gives an insight into what is coming through as a trend, and what you could possibly tap into for the season coming," she says. "It has provided instrumental and extensive inspiration for my Autumn/Winter collection, using yarns and fabrics from Abraham Moons, Charles Clayton, Cerruti and Z Hinchliffe to create the wool pieces, including super lightweight fabrics to offer a transition from Autumn through to Spring."
Dalton includes Cool Wool fabrics in the collection, offering a lighter product for mid-season.
"I’m not in a position to produce a mid-season collection so it's really nice for us to be able to offer a lighter product base, so that Cool Wool for instance which we put in for winter allows that to happen," she explains.
"The luxe sports program, when we go to sales I think will be picked up quite well, because it's got a mid-season feel about it, and I didn’t want to make it too traditional, too heritage."
Dalton says working with The Woolmark Company had provided access for her to Woolmark licensees and new suppliers through The Wool Lab and by her visiting UK mills: "Woolmark in general has been fantastic because mills have come to the table that I wasn't really aware of."
